Our skilled team of environmental practitioners designs and pilots innovative stormwater and marine remediation systems, utilising cutting-edge technologies such as the SORR Gyroid Sponge™ and Circular Seed end-of-life solutions. These efforts position South Australia as a leader in sustainable water and marine management.
Born from our collaboration with SORR, we aim to establish South Australia as a centre of excellence in water remediation. We have partnered with SORR and SORR India to explore opportunities across NSW, WA, India, and beyond.

Our case studies show how SAWI’s science‑led solutions deliver measurable water quality outcomes across South Australia.
Using SORR Gyroid Sponge™ technology, we prevent pollutants from entering waterways at the source and turn captured contaminants into recycled materials with zero landfill and zero incineration.
Performance Highlights
- >96% removal of suspended particulates (including fine organic material and microplastic‑sized fragments) in independent trials—far exceeding standard gross pollutant capture.
- Significant capture of hydrocarbons, PFAS and heavy metals, with field‑recovered Gyroid showing measurable loads of diesel‑range hydrocarbons and PFAS retained in the material.
- Lower pollutant discharge downstream of stormwater outlets in real deployments, showing cleaner water entering estuaries and coastal zones after Gyroid filtration.
- Passive, non‑chemical performance with no pumps or reagents required, reducing energy use and installation impact.
