Building a Global Model for Coastal Resilience

Fishermen affected by coastal pollution seek remediation benefits.

SA Water Innovation (SAWI) and SORR are pioneering a new approach to waterway protection

SA Water Innovation (SAWI) and SORR are pioneering a new approach to waterway protection—one that prevents pollution at the source, restores marine environments, and creates valuable circular-economy products from captured waste.

Our work is built on SORR’s Swayampurna philosophy: strengthening local capability, self-sufficiency, and economic opportunity through environmentally restorative technologies.

We are seeking mission-aligned philanthropic partners who share our belief that coastal communities deserve clean water, healthy marine ecosystems and climate resilience—now, not decades from now.

Why Partner With SAWI & SORR?

1. Prevention over measurement

Rather than responding to disasters after the fact, we intercept pollutants before they reach the ocean.
Our Gyroid™ interception technology—verified by  independent science labs —removes microplastics, hydrocarbons, nutrients and metals from stormwater, effluent pathways and coastal discharges.

2. Zero waste, circular economy outcomes

All captured pollutants are diverted from landfill and incineration.
Through our partnership with Circular Seed, waste is transformed into pavers, construction materials and industrial products—creating jobs, revenue, and true environmental sustainability.

3. Community-anchored and equity-driven

We work with councils, First Nations groups, surf clubs, environmental volunteers and local businesses to ensure coastal protection benefits those most directly affected.

4. A blueprint with global applications

The challenges facing Adelaide—HABs, fish kills, toxin persistence, PFAS, plastic pollution—are mirrored across the world.
Our Swayampurna-based model can be replicated in:

  • Indian Ocean & Bay of Bengal regions
  • Pacific Island nations
  • African coastal communities
  • Australian east and west coasts
  • Urban industrial ports and stormwater systems worldwide

We stand ready to support governments, NGOs and philanthropic partners in adapting the model to their context.

What Philanthropic Investment Enables

Build a Centre of Excellence for Coastal Resilience

A hub for research, deployment, community training, and global knowledge exchange.

Deploy Multi-Council Demonstration Projects

Proving what coordinated stormwater interception can achieve for major coastlines.

Establish Circular Economy Micro-Factories

Replicating the Swayampurna “waste-to-worth” model region by region.

Support Community Science & First Nations Leadership

Empowering local custodians to monitor, restore and govern their waterways.

Scale Proven Solutions Internationally

Adapting SAWI’s approach to vulnerable regions globally.

A Call to Global Philanthropists

SAWI and SORR represent a rare combination:
a practical solution, independent scientific evidence, circular-economy innovation, and a globally relevant model rooted in community empowerment.

With transformative philanthropy, we can move from isolated pilots to a global network—protecting coastlines, restoring ecosystems, and building resilient, self-sufficient communities worldwide.
